Interesting Set of 18th Century Documents
Interesting family dispute over stock on the lands of Killadooly Co. Kildare. John White died intestate in 1747 and supposedly left the lands (which actually belonged to Sir William Meredith) to his wife and children. The dispute centres on who appears to have been the owner of the stock. Really fascinating how land was managed at this time with layers of owners tenant's ,sub tenants, dependants all attempting to get their say. The Dispute appears to have dragged on for a number of years, as John White died in 1747, but an opinion from Theo Wolfe Esq. is dated 1766, and a letter from Dublin, from a George Cockburn is dated 1771. In fragile condition.
