Large Detailed map of the British Isles by Alexis Hubert Jaillot

Large and detailed map of the British Isles with two finely engraved and expertly coloured cartouches. The rather large title cartouche, profusely decorated with allegorical symbolism, extends about half way down the right hand side and includes angels, cherubs and bare chested Neptune riding a sea serpent.

As with other large Jaillot maps, there is also a  secondary title outside the main map border in latin, "Magnae Britanniae Tabula...etc.

Large mileage cartouche at left bottom of map with three scales. Insets for the Orkneys, Shetlands and Faroes.

Exceptional large map, in exceptional condition.
