Scarce Hondius Map of Ireland -1607

A nice example of the Hondius Irlandia map. Printed on one sheet of heavy laid paper. This is a scarce 1st state, with no page numbers or titles to either map or text sides of the sheet. In extremely fine condition, later hand colour.

According to Andrew Bonar Law in his Maps of Ireland to 1612, 'Hondius published a smaller version of the Mercator Atlas in 1607, under the title "Atlas Minor"... the smaller version was more suited to the requirements of the general public, being smaller and therefore handier and above all cheaper".

This is as good an example as we have seen of this rare early 17th century map. This is a first state.
