Recto

The right page of an opened book; the front surface of a map or leaf; the obverse. In Oriental books, which read in reverse, the rectois the left page.

Register

The precise alignment of the paper on the several different plates needed to print in colours.

Remargined

Describes a map that has had its margins replaced or substantially widened.

Rhumb lines

Lines emanating from the compass rose. Sometimes called "wind lines."

Roller map

A wall map mounted on a roller so that it can be rolled up when not in use.
