John Rocque

Lived in Dublin for a number of years during the 1750's whilst producing a number of maps relating to Ireland, most notably the large scale map of Dublin, which was completed in 1756. This was the map which featured on the Irish ten pound note for a number of years during the 1980's and early 1990's.

Rocque had a prolific output and his contribution to Irish cartography was of immense importance. (we will be profiling Rocque and his work on these pages in the near future)
